JUNE UPDATE

Hello friends,

At the moment we are enjoying a wet cool spring here in Ontario. We are doing our best to keep on top of weeds and garden pests, and fighting a losing battle. I've taken to walking real fast between house and studio - or risk being detained for hours. Still it's better than the alternative (smile).

The Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition is coming up, July 10, 11 and 12. This is the biggest fine art show in Canada, always new and exciting, with over 500 artists at Nathan Phillips Square. It's a perfect reason to be in Toronto for the entire week-end. I invite you to visit my booth at my usual spot: White 22. www.

Next in line is the Common Thread, an international juried textile art exhibition in Oakville, Ontario, Spetember 18 to October 4. One of my 'Ovulation trios' was accepted, and it will be shown with the work of many top artists from several countries. Come to the World of Threads Festival for other exhibitions and events.

M y next solo exhibition takes place at the Alberta Craft Council's Discovery Gallery in Edmonton, for September 2009. The title of the show is Saving Paradise: Trees of the Canadian West, and it will be a logical extension of my previous work inspired by native Canadian trees. So far I have 3 works done with a fourth on the way.

For the first two weeks of May I joined artist and teacher Jody Joseph for a spring workshop in Montecastello di Vibio in Italy. This was my first visit to the country. It was magnificent! Since I could not take my sewing machine I decided to draw and paint. I have posted photos from the trip and images of the resultant artwork on facebook: Photos and Drawings. Enjoy!

On April 18 and 19, fourteen participants joined me here in Dundas for a workshop on Collage with Nets. Everything went smoothly and it was a great success. This is the first of a series that I plan to offer intermittently, with a different focus each time. Those of you who are interested in registering for future workshops with me can email with your contact information.

That's all for now. I'm always happy to hear your comments so drop me a note any time, or call ahead and stop by at the Studio... visitors are always welcome.
